We have these little people in our head I like to call “Thinkers.” They are so busy, almost always collecting overtime! About now, on your third day in the course, your head really might be swimming. These new ideas will wake up your Thinkers! The trick is learning to control your Thinkers, instead of them controlling you. Right now would be an appropriate time to remind them you are the master and they are your servants. Here are two ways I’ve discovered to help manage the thoughts in my head so they don’t manage me. The first is to learn to quiet the mind when you find it racing. As the mind races from one thought to another, every molehill becomes a mountain. Then armies of beings called “What If’s” can come into the picture, and suddenly the mind loses control of its senses. The key to stopping that scenario from happening is to become AWARE (heard that word before?) that it is taking place. As my mother (again) used to say, "Half your problem is solved ... |
